Care Manual

Care Manual

Every DIYAARA creation is thoughtfully handcrafted using natural materials and traditional techniques. Variations in texture, colour, grain, weave, and finish are not imperfections—they are a testament to the authenticity and individuality of each piece.

With proper care, your handcrafted pieces will age beautifully and remain a cherished part of your home for years to come.

Natural Fibre Lighting

(Kauna, Cane, Rattan, Jute & Linen Shades)

Our handcrafted lighting is created using natural fibres that bring warmth, texture, and timeless elegance to your interiors.

Care Instructions

  • Dust regularly using a soft, dry microfiber cloth or a feather duster.

  • For intricate weaves, use a soft brush or a vacuum with a brush attachment on low suction.

  • Keep away from prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to prevent fading.

  • Avoid excessive humidity and moisture, as natural fibres may absorb water and lose their shape.

  • Never use harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or excessive water.

  • Linen shades can be gently cleaned using a lint roller or soft dry cloth.

Ceramic Lighting

Each ceramic light is individually handcrafted, making every piece unique.

Care Instructions

  • Wipe with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth.

  • Avoid abrasive cleaning products that may scratch the glaze.

  • Handle carefully to prevent chips or cracks.

  • Ensure the light is switched off and cool before cleaning.

Rugs

(Hand Tufted, Handwoven & Handloom)

Our handcrafted rugs are designed to develop character over time while offering lasting comfort and beauty.

Care Instructions

  • Vacuum regularly using low suction without the beater brush.

  • Rotate your rug every few months to ensure even wear.

  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth. Do not rub.

  • Keep away from prolonged direct sunlight to minimise colour fading.

  • Professional cleaning is recommended when required.

  • Use a rug underlay to prevent movement and extend the rug's lifespan.

  • Natural fibre shedding during the initial months is normal and will gradually reduce.

Wooden Furniture & Décor

Wood is a living material that naturally evolves with time, developing a rich patina that enhances its beauty.

Care Instructions

  • Dust regularly using a soft, dry cloth.

  • Wipe spills immediately to prevent moisture absorption.

  • Use coasters, placemats, and trivets to protect surfaces.

  • Avoid placing furniture near direct heat sources or prolonged sunlight.

  • Clean using a slightly damp cloth followed by a dry cloth.

  • Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, or abrasive cleaners.

  • Periodically nourish natural wood with a suitable wood polish or wax.

Antique Furniture

Every antique piece carries the charm and character of its history. Gentle care helps preserve its originality and value.

Care Instructions

  • Dust regularly with a soft microfiber cloth.

  • Avoid silicone-based or harsh commercial polishes.

  • Keep antiques away from excessive humidity, direct sunlight, and heat sources.

  • Lift furniture when moving rather than dragging it.

  • Minor marks, ageing, and patina are natural features and should be preserved.

  • Professional restoration is recommended if repairs become necessary.

Antique Décor

Each antique décor piece is one of a kind and may display natural signs of age that contribute to its authenticity.

Care Instructions

  • Avoid water, harsh chemicals, and abrasive cleaning materials.

  • Display away from direct sunlight and damp environments.

  • Handle with care, especially fragile or intricately carved pieces.

Brass

Brass develops a natural patina over time, adding character and depth to every piece. This ageing process is part of its inherent beauty.

Care Instructions

  • Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth.

  • For a brighter finish, gently polish using a brass cleaner or a natural lemon-and-baking soda solution.

  • Dry thoroughly after cleaning to prevent water spots.

  • Avoid abrasive pads or harsh chemicals.

  • Store in a dry environment to minimise tarnishing.

A Note on Handmade Craftsmanship

Every DIYAARA piece is handcrafted by skilled artisans using natural materials. Slight variations in colour, texture, grain, weave, dimensions, and finish are part of the making process and celebrate the uniqueness of handmade craftsmanship.

These subtle differences are not defects but the signature of authentic artisanal work, ensuring that no two pieces are ever exactly alike.
